Veterans Service Officer
This position is responsible for administrative work providing assistance to veterans and their dependents to ensure they receive needed services and benefits obtained as a result of service in the armed forces, and must remain current on all laws and regulations pertaining to veteran’s benefits and be capable of advising and assisting veterans and their dependents on how to obtain needed services and benefits. Other associated activities include interviewing veterans and their dependents to determine needed services, preparing formal claims, maintaining files and related documentation, and acting as an advocate for veterans when needed. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills required and work will be evaluated by the County Mayor through review of the level of services to veterans and their dependents and the efficiency of the office operations. The ideal candidate will have moderate to strong computer skills. Applicants must possess a valid Tennessee Drivers license and be able to obtain certification by the State of Tennessee as a Veterans Service Officer within 12 months of employment. Candidate must be certified as a Service Organization Representative by the US Department of Veterans Affairs and must have received an honorable discharge from the armed services and at least one tour of active duty. This is a part time position at an average of 24 hours per week. Employment is contingent upon approval by the County Legislative Body.

JOB TITLE: Building Inspector
DEPARTMENT: Building and Zoning Department
PRINCIPLE PURPOSE OF JOB:
This position requires considerable knowledge of the department’s function, procedures, purpose and duties which include responding to public enquires at the counter as well as in the field, on the phone and electronic mail. This employee is responsible for all activities with the regulation of building construction, mechanical and plumbing installation while maintaining compliance with the International Building Codes and all applicable land use codes as adopted by Greene County.
Must obtain all required certifications from ICC and State Fire Marshal in all areas that apply to the position as a residential building inspector within 12 months. Certifications must be obtained as follows: Residential certification must be obtained within four (4) months; plumbing certification must be obtained within eight (8) months; and mechanical certification must be obtained within 12 months. Within 24 months of hire must be certified as a commercial building inspector in plumbing and mechanical with ICC and State Fire Marshal.
